MALVERN — February 11, 2021 — Apple Spice Box Lunch Delivery & Catering Co., a 30-year-old, corporate-catering company with operations throughout the United States recently announced the grand opening of its first-ever location in the southeastern Pennsylvania region. The new store, located in Malvern, opened for business on January 18, 2021 and serves the Western Philadelphia Suburbs, including Great Valley, West Chester, the Mainline and King of Prussia areas.

Apple Spice opened their first box lunch delivery and catering company in 1988, in Salt Lake City, UT. Founders, Randy Clegg and Wayne Curtis, rented a storefront from 88-year-old Fritz Haertel, known as the legendary “Rye King” of Salt Lake City and so Apple Spice began. During the last 30 years, Apple Spice has grown from its original location to a nationwide company of nearly 50 stores specializing in business and corporate lunches. Apple Spice will service the region with “on-time, every-time” box lunch and catering services for the business community and other special events.

“We are thrilled that Apple Spice is now open and serving the Philadelphia region,” said Randy Clegg, founder of Apple Spice. “The region’s growth and strong economy make it an ideal market for us. We’ve partnered with fantastic franchisees Denise and Jim Vizzini, and Eric and Lynn Frick. We are thrilled they have joined the Apple Spice family. We know they and their team will make Apple Spice a huge success in Southeastern Pennsylvania.”

As past owners of two Hand and Stone locations, the Vizzinis have broad experience in operating franchises. Apple Spice is their first food-service franchise and it’s somewhat ironic because Denise will admit she doesn’t like to cook. “Luckily for Jim and me, we have wonderful partners in Eric and Lynn Frick who run the kitchen and oversee the kitchen staff who produce our fresh, delicious bread & meals,” quipped Denise.

One of their goals with Apple Spice is to specialize in providing jobs for people with disabilities. “Currently, on our Team, there is an awesome employee who is on the spectrum and he does a fabulous job!  It’s one of our missions to help people with disabilities find fulfilling work,” stated Denise.

Apple Spice’s box lunch service features a menu of fresh, healthy and delicious sandwiches, wraps, and salads, including keto and super foods options. The marquee item that sets Apple Spice apart from all others is its delicious, daily-baked bread. “We will never serve a sandwich on day-old bread,” said Eric Frick, co-owner of the new Apple Spice location. “Freshly baked honey wheat, 13 grain, and sourdough breads are what our loyal customers have loved since 1988. We are confident everyone in Southeastern Pennsylvania will love Apple Spice and our fresh, safe, healthy options for boxed lunches, salads and catering. People are loving the safety inherent in the sealed box lunches and salads.”

“We are thrilled to serve the businesses and people of our region,” said Jim Vizzini. “Apple Spice will be an invaluable resource to our region’s business community. We’ve already found that when businesses bring in healthy, fresh food for their employees, it increases productivity and camaraderie among coworkers.”

Apple Spice has received numerous honors as the largest volume caterer of boxed lunches and buffet-style catering to local business communities. While boxed lunches are Apple Spice’s “bread and butter”, it also offers a broad catering menu. Breakfast buffets, sandwich platters, fruit and veggie trays, build-your-own salad, baked potato, taco, and fajita bars are offered as well. Apple Spice rounds out its catering menu with hot entrees, including tender pot roast, roast chicken, chicken parmesan, baked ziti, and additional chicken choices. And no meal is complete without dessert. Apple Spice offers cookies, brownies, peanut butter yummy bars, lemon bars, and white chocolate cranberry bars that are great choices for any occasion.

The new store is located at 480 Lancaster Avenue, Malvern, PA 19355, near the intersection of routes 202 and 30. Its location gives the store convenient access for always-on-time deliveries throughout the region as well as in-store pickups Monday-Friday from 8 AM – 3 PM. With a simple call, we offer new customers the opportunity to meet with one of our Relationship Managers to try some samples and review our extensive menu options.
