Exton, PA-August 16,2016
Exton Region Chamber of Commerce is helping build a bridge to the future by connecting high school students and local businesses to collaborate towards creating a better business future.
On September 20th, 2016, the ERCC will host a luncheon, sponsored by Fulton Bank, N.A., at the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in Exton, PA where students from the West Chester Area and Downingtown Area school districts will be sharing their experiences with the Business & Education Partnership. The luncheon will begin at 11:30 AM with tickets $25 per person for members and $40 for non-members. If you are interested in attending, please visit www.ercc.net to purchase tickets. Attendees will be able to hear how the BEP program has enriched the lives of local students from several student speakers and enjoy a buffet catered by local favorite, Limoncello.
The Business & Education Partnership (BEP) aims to create greater awareness amongst students, educators, and businesses around career options by providing hands-on work experience to students. The BEP program is made up of three components: Get In, Get Out and Get Real.
Get In focuses on providing internship opportunities to high school students so they can get their feet wet in a potential career they are interested in exploring. Get Out allows teachers the chance to visit businesses and see the skills potential employers find most desirable and how those skills can be incorporated into classroom lessons. Finally, Get Real gives students the chance to simulate running their own business. Students participating in the Get Real program are tasked with creating a business plan, electing officers, and developing and selling their own products or services. Proceeds earned from the Get Real businesses are donated to the charity of the “company’s” choice. Past recipients of the Get Real’s proceeds have included the Chester County Food Bank, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and Pediatric Cancer Research.
Exton Region Chamber of Commerce’s mission is to advance the economic success of their members and the community by providing opportunities for businesses to build relationships, market their business, share industry knowledge and provide community outreach. For over 40 years, the Exton Region Chamber has been focused on meeting the diverse needs of its members and provides a wide array of events and programs to enhance the business climate and quality of life in Exton.
